History:
John Glover Roberts Jr., being the only son of John and Rosemary Roberts, was born in the city of Buffalo, New York. The Roberts family later moved to Long Beach, Indiana. He went to Notre Dame Elementary School. In 1973, he graduated from La Lumiere School, a Catholic boarding school in La Porte, Indiana.
He studied Latin and became apt in the language. He also studied some French. Later, he attended Harvard University in 1976, being the first student of his high school who got in. He then took up his law degree at Harvard Law School in 1979.
In 1982, he served as U.S. Attorney General to William French Smith. After working as an associate at the Hogan & Hartson law firm in Washington, he returned to the Justice Department. There, from 1989-1993, he served as Solicitor General.
George Bush Sr. nominated Roberts as judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals. But there was no Senate vote and the nomination later expired.
The son of George H.W. Bush, George Bush, nominated Roberts again for the position in 2003. Little opposition met it. The retirement of Associate Judge Sandra Day O’Connor led Roberts’s nomination for the title. But in 2005, Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist died from illness. Roberts’s nomination for the position of Associate Justice was later revoked. In turn, Bush nominated him as Chief Justice.
He was finally confirmed as Chief Justice on September 29, 2005 and continues to serve up to this day.
Roberts handled about 39 cases as an attorney before his nomination. He won 25 of such cases.

Roberts went in favor of the Affordable Healthcare Act
